- Have you ever heard about "főzelék"? It is a kind of cooked vegetable dish, extremely popular in Hungary. We prepare it by using different garden vegetables and to thicken the dish, near the end of the cooking we add roux or a mix of sour cream a nd flour to it. You must taste it! Go to "Főzelékfaló" at the corner of Andrássy and Nagymező
- Hungarians write their first name and surname in a different order.
- Under the Castle District there is a three-level cave system that you can visit.
- Budapest is the only capital in the world with natural spring waters.
- During the second World War all the bridges of Budapest were blown up and had to be rebuilt again.
- The Hungarian language is the 3rd most musical language in the world after Italian and Greek.
- Hungarians did not destroy all the statues that were built during the communist era but collected them and now you can visit them in 'statue park'. The only one that's left is the Statue of Liberty on top of Gellért Hill.
- Hungarians celebrate name days as well as birthdays (each name has a date in the calendar).
