Get ready to discover the best wine venues and ruin bars in Budapest! We’re going to share our favourite city stories with you, paired alongside some of the best Hungarian wines.
We’ll start our evening adventure in the main junction of the city and wander over to the Old Jewish ghetto to discover the coolest local hangouts by night. Beginning with classic spritzers, moving on to easygoing whites, and following those up with dark, full-bodied reds. And of course, Budapest’s night scene wouldn’t be complete without a traditional Hungarian drink to top it all off!
After our welcome drink and a short stroll through the city’s streets, we’ll head over to the former Jewish quarter to learn the rich history of this neighbourhood, often known as the Soho of Budapest. In line with its late 19th-century elegance and the 21st-century lifestyle, our Budapest walking tour continues to a local wine lovers’ hangout with a cool cellar ambiance. Over a glass of white, we’ll explore the importance of wine to local Hungarian culture.
Our stroll continues into the streets of the 7th District, where we’ll stop to see the first ruin bar of the city, for a glass of rosé or a choice of local beer. Then, it’s onwards to another bar, with each stop giving you a completely different atmosphere to experience. As we move along, you’ll learn about old and new Budapest, and see how quickly the city scenes change with just a few minutes of walking.
Our final stop will be at a place you couldn’t find on your own — off the beaten track, this locals’ favorite venue serves the best variety of reds in the city. We wouldn’t let you miss out on this hidden gem! After the tour, you may want to stick around the neighbourhood for another drink and a late night bite. Be sure to ask your local guide what other watering holes make them happy!

I had such a fun tour! The guide was lovely and told me about the country, the city and the wines. She even took me to her nephew’s bar and had some yummy food in her car (she dropped me off at the hotel!!) that she made when teaching a cooking course during the day. Really fun tour. My husband and I were the only ones booked, so it was essentially a private tour. Our guide was extremely enthusiastic, professional, and happy to share her knowledge of Budapest. She took care of every detail, so all we had to do is sit back and relax. We are vegetarian, but everything had been arranged beforehand to ensure that we could have vegetarian versions of the food. Highly recommend if you want to learn more about Hungarian drinks, drinking culture, and bars in the Jewish Quarter!
